Water Problems and Their Cure

After water testing, it is now time to conduct treatment to remove any contaminants from your water. Here are some methods that can help cure water problems.

1. Chloride is a natural forming mineral. It is known for being toxic to plants and it can corrode pipes. Distillation and reverse osmosis is the best way to eliminate chloride problem.

2. Bacteria are microorganisms that occur naturally in water. Some bacteria are not harmful but some can cause disease and they call it pathogenic bacteria. Treatment for these pathogenic bacteria includes reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, microfiltration, disinfection, chemical oxidation and ultraviolet sterilization.

3. Barium is a toxic agent. If there is a presence of barium in your water it could lead to some serious disease like stomach problems, high blood pressure and swelling of vital organs. Reverse osmosis is one method that could help cure water.

4. Manganese. This contaminants can affect taste and can cause staining and discoloration of water. Water softening can eliminate this problem.

5. Nitrates can enter you water system by animal waste, runoff and fertilizer. Elevated levels of nitrate can cause health problem especially to infants. Treatments for nitrates are anion exchange and reverse osmosis.

6. Lead can be very dangerous to children and should be eliminated as soon as possible. Mixed bed de-ionizer and carbon filters are good lead deterrent.

7. Fluoride is a common form of mineral. Through reverse osmosis and anion exchange fluoride can be reduced.

8. Mercury. If your drinking water is contaminated with this substance it can lead to health problems such as damage to your kidney and central nervous system. An effective way to remove mercury during water treatment is by activated carbon filtration and reverse osmosis.
